Trans and gender-diverse refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced and stateless people are among migrants facing the highest risk of physical and emotional maltreatment, beatings, rape, torture and murder, because their visible gender expression is often perceived as a direct challenge to prevailing social norms in both countries of origin and asylum.
Displaced persons often face significant social crises including: lack of access to basic needs like food and shelter, limited healthcare, disrupted education, social isolation, gender-based violence, strained relationships with host communities, trauma from displacement experiences etc due to their identity as refugees or internally displaced people, all contributing to increased vulnerability and mental health issues .

The LGBTQ+ population often faces unique challenges and barriers to acceptance and inclusion.
Discrimination, social stigma, and lack of understanding can lead to feelings of isolation and vulnerability.

LGBTQ+ community centers serve as catalysts for social change by advocating for policies and practices that promote equality and inclusion. Through community organizing, awareness campaigns, and partnerships with local organizations and government agencies, these centers work tirelessly to address systemic issues such as discrimination, violence, and lack of access to healthcare and social services.
